ASPEN GROVE KERRY JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
Friday, October 9th, saw Tom Healy Park, Abbeydorney, host the Aspen Grove Kerry Junior Championship Final, where old rivals Tralee Parnells and Cillard faced off for the second consecutive year in what was a fantastic occasion for both clubs.
With Cillard chasing an incredible six-in-a-row and Parnells hoping to make club history by claiming our first Junior Championship title, there was plenty at stake.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, both teams served up a tough and competitive battle from the throw-in. Our Parnells defence worked tirelessly throughout, battling hard to keep Cillard’s lead at bay, while both goalkeepers produced some outstanding saves. However, with Parnells facing into the wind in the second half, we just couldn’t find the scores needed to turn the game in our favour.
While the result wasn’t what we had hoped for, this young group of players has given us so much to be proud of. This is only the second year since the re-establishment of our Junior Camogie team, and to see the progress, determination and commitment shown by these players over the past season has been nothing short of incredible. They have represented Tralee Parnells with tremendous pride and have laid fantastic foundations for the future of our club.
Our journey continues, as we now turn our attention to the Mai O’Connell Junior B Munster Championship in November. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the next chapter of our season.
Huge congratulations to Cillard on achieving their remarkable six-in-a-row, a testament to the quality and consistency of their team. We wish them the very best of luck in the Munster Junior Championship in the coming weeks.
A massive thank you to the Kerry County Board for the tremendous effort made to ensure the final was such a special occasion for both clubs. Thanks also to Mike Hennessy and his team for officiating on the night, and to Abbeydorney GAA for the use of their excellent facilities.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out to support our ladies in such challenging conditions. Your support means so much to the players and the club. A special mention to our rising stars, who put on a fantastic half-time performance and gave everyone a glimpse of the bright future of camogie at Tralee Parnells!
Finally, a huge thank you to our sponsor, Acorn Landscaping, for their continued support.
The result may not have gone our way, Cillard 1-07 to Parnells 0-6, but the pride in this team is immense. We have so much to look forward to, and we hope to see that fantastic support continue as we begin our road to Munster!
