ASPEN GROVE JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
A blustery Caherslee hosted the final-round game of the Aspen Grove Junior Championship last Friday, and our girls had to dig deep against a strong and well-drilled Causeway side. It was a tight battle from the start, with just two points separating the sides at half-time. Causeway continued their momentum after the break with a well-taken goal, but our players showed incredible character, pulled together and fought back strongly to secure the win on a scoreline of 1-8 to 1-5! A huge well done to the entire squad, who finish the round games top of the table with three wins from three. Thanks to Causeway for a great game, to Donnacha Buttimer for refereeing, and to Joe Wallace for looking after us, as always, in Caherslee.
Next up: Junior Championship Semi-Final on Friday, October 2nd, against Killarney/Sliabh Luachra.
KERRY GROUP ANNUAL SCHOOLS CAMOGIE BLITZ
A fantastic morning of camogie at Caherslee! Our Tralee Parnells players had the honour of representing their schools with great pride at the Mercy Mounthawk Schools Camogie Blitz. We were delighted to see an abundance of Parnells players representing Mercy Mounthawk, Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí and Presentation Tralee. Congratulations to Presentation Tralee, who were crowned Senior Cup winners, captained by our own Anna Chute, and also to the Junior Shield winners! This blitz is a fantastic opportunity for girls to represent their schools and, for some, to pick up a camogie stick and play for the very first time, giving them the opportunity to get involved in a new team sport. A huge thank you to Kerry Group for their continued sponsorship and support of women in sport, and to our very own Claire Salmon for making the presentations. Congratulations to Mercy Mounthawk for hosting another hugely successful Schools Camogie Blitz. Well done, and thanks to all involved!
U8 CAMOGIE
Fantastic display by our U8 camogie girls at Crotta on Wednesday evening. Huge thanks to
Abbeykillix Camogie Club for organising. It was a great opportunity for our players to get valuable game time against Abbeykillix, Cillard and Causeway. We were thrilled to field two teams on the night and look forward to seeing the numbers grow. All the girls had great fun, made new friends and improved their camogie skills along the way. Well done to all the players and coaches, and thanks to the parents for all their support!
RANGANNA GAEILGE
Ranganna Gaeilge started last Monday. We had a Leaving Certificate class and a beginner class, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again next week. Many thanks to Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonnacha for the funding. Beatha teanga í a labhairt. All are welcome to come along every Monday evening to improve your cúpla focal. Both club members and non-members can attend.
U10 HURLERS
A great day out last Saturday in Clonlara, County Clare, with our Tralee Parnells U10s. Some great determination and fight were shown by all our players. It was an early start, but everyone really enjoyed the day. Thanks to Clonlara for hosting a great tournament and for inviting us every year.
U12 HURLERS
Well done to our U12s, who played in the Seán Murnane Invitational Blitz in Kilmoyley last Saturday. After a narrow three-point loss to St. Brendan's in the opening game, the boys powered past Knockaderry to play Tracton from Cork in the Shield Final. The sides were level at half-time before Parnells upped the ante in the second half to take the honours. A wonderful day was had by all, and special thanks to Kilmoyley Hurling Club, who organised a special day in honour of a revered clubman.
U16 hurlers
Great win for our u16s last sunday against lixnaw in the final group game of the north kerry championship on a scoreline of 2-22 to 4-9.
